ADVERTISEMENT The Area's Top Political Talk Show! Volpe Report SUNDAY MORNINGS 10:30 AM f FOX56 NEW PRESIDENT INHERITS A PANDEMIC AND A CAMPUS IN MOURNING AND YET WELCOMES THE CHALLENGES AND SEES THE POSSIBILITIES Sunday, on The Volpe Report at 10:30 a.m. on FOX56, guest Reverend Joseph G. Marina, S.J., newly minted President of the University of Scranton, is this week's special guest. Father Marina took over as the University President in June, six months into a pandemic that was wreaking havoc on education and the University was mourning the loss of former President, Reverend Scott Pilarz, S.J., who tragically lost his battle to ALS. Father Marina inherited a five-point strategic plan that was underway. On Sunday, learn how the new President - who didn't enter the Jesuits until he was 42, ironed out any wrinkles in a successful transition to his new post after a long stint at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, where he served as Provost and acting President. Also on tap for discussion, Chuck and Father will discuss some of the reasons people are leaving the Church, which include the disintegration of the family unit and the prevalence of single parent households as well as young peoples' fascination with Social Media, as several of the leading causes of this drift away from the church, according to Father Marina. While there is no quick fix to the loss of parishioners, Father Marina, said he believes "That finding meaning through a life of faith and through an encounter with God is something as good as it gets." On Tuesday, between 10 and 10:30 p.m., tune in to FOX56 News at 10 for Volpe's Views as Chuck comments on President Joe Biden's sliding poll numbers. Reverend Joseph G.
