Scranton's Matt McGloin, the first walk-on quarterback to start at Penn State since scholarships were reinstated in 1949, is now considering high political office in his future. The former football great, who was this Show's inaugural guest almost 9 years ago, returns to The Volpe Report Sunday at 10:30 a.m. on FOX56. Following a college career in which he was a stand-out, McGloin played as a starter for the Oakland Raiders, and set an NFL rookie record in his first start by throwing 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions, which had not been done since the 1970 NFL merger. In 3 years with the Raider organization, he played in many meaningful games, including a memorable Thanksgiving Day performance against the Dallas Cowboys. After several NFL seasons, Matt became broadcaster, for both the Big Ten Network and Penn State. He came out of retirement in 2020 and played in the XFL's inaugural season for the New York Guardians as their starting quarterback. Matt will be discussing his current plans, which includes political office in the near future as many political leaders have contacted him. The former West Side standout now resides in Waverly with his wife and two children. On Tuesday, tune in for Volpe's Views between 10 and 10:30 pm on FOX 56 News at 10 as Chuck comments on the deadly scam circulating the Internet.
