The Shapiro administration reneged on his campaign promise to remove the state from the economically destructive consortium, according to a central figure in state economic development. In the first of a two-part Show, Luke Bernstein, President of the Pennsylvania Chamber of Business and Industry, is the guest this Sunday on the Volpe Report at 10:30 a.m. on FOX56. The Chamber joined energy companies and unions in the court action, opposing the state's participation in RGGI because Governor Wolf used an executive order to join RGGI without seeking legislative approval. The Commonwealth Court agreed with Bernstein and the energy companies that costs to energy producers in RGGI was a tax and not a fee and that the former Governor overstepped his executive power, because only the Legislature can appropriate or tax. Governor Shapiro's administration appealed the decision to the PA Supreme Court. In addition to RGGI, show host Chuck Volpe and Mr. Bernstein will be discussing the approaching budget and school funding, another promise Shapiro reneged on.
