Bend at your knees and try to keep your spine straight. 3. Dont shovel fast. Cold weather decreases blood flow to the muscles making then tighter and prone to injury. 4. Dont lift and twist from the waist when you empty the shovel to the side. 5. Last but not least, stretch before you go out. Simply lie on your back and bring your knees to your chest.
