PennState Scranton English Learners! English Language Development Summer College Preparedness Program Program overview: Penn State Scranton's English Language Development program is a three-week extensive course focusing on improving the English Learner's listening, reading, writing and speaking skills. The main objective of this program is to enhance the student's English proficiency skills and teach necessary skills for them to be successful in their first year of college. The course will also concentrate on making the student aware of common college campus departments, resources, and terminology as well as an overview of proper research techniques, APA references, and the dangers of plagiarism Requirements: »Students who come from environments where the primary language is not English. » Eligible students must be a high school graduate or going into their senior year of high school. »Eligible students must have scored a 3.5 or higher on the WIDA ACCESS test or show some evidence of their current English language proficiency level.
